**Optimizations get thrown out the window **
As soon as they reach end users…
“Google says my page is slow. “
Me: you have 5-6 5MB images loading. One is 10 MB.
“Yes, but can you optimize 5k of CSS?”
Me: you have scripts for YouTube, Facebook, Google, and 5 other ad networks loading first.
“We need those, but google said you’re only using 20% of the code”
Me: You are also using 7 different fonts and have 5 YouTube videos trying to autoplay.
“Those are for conversions! We’re going to find a faster platform. “
Me: ok.

If you are working on something right now ask yourself how you could ship it in an hour, a day, or by the end of the week.
You’ll find you just updated your priority list if you were working on part that didn’t make the one day version.

Just starting something is clarifying.
If you feel blocked by a complex task just start with a small part, even if you may have to redo it later.
Just starting kicks your brain into the right mode to see through the complexity.

Avoid falling into the trap of thinking “I need X to succeed”. It creates a stuck mindset.
I see way too many people writing in saying “we need X to succeed and no platform has X”. Maybe there’s a reason no one has it… because everyone else realizes that A, B, or C work better.

One downside of trying to provide a support experience that’s over and above expectations is that people start writing in asking you to solve problems on their other marketing platforms who never write them back.

What company or service do you use that makes you cringe every time you pay them?
But you feel stuck so you keep paying.
For me it’s Gusto for payroll.

It’s a race
My kids now prefer to ask ChatGPT for things than search google. My daughter, who likes cooking, will default to asking AI for recipes.
Not because there aren’t good recipes elsewhere, but the google results are terrible (ads/junk) and the sites all shove the “SEO” story about the recipe down your throat.
It’s a race to see if AI improves data accuracy before Google fixes search.

Content management and blogging for business is a shitshow. All I want is an easy client tool that makes it as easy to manage content as it is to share on Facebook or personal blogging platforms. Get out of here if you mention “Wordpress” to me.

Been thinking for a while that the pandemic broke so many good habits.
As a parent there’s less calls between kids or parents of kids to hang out.
We need to work to bring these habits back.
